AZ Long Drive Delivers: 395-Yard Bombs, 1-Yard Drama, and 6 Tickets to Worlds
Triston Brown goes wire-to-wire at Dobson Ranch as Arizona competition produces 655 drives, rising accuracy and a dramatic race for Worlds.
AZ Long Drive’s World Long Drive Local and Regional Qualifiers at Dobson Ranch Golf Course delivered a day packed with massive drives, clutch performances and razor-thin margins as competitors battled for six coveted spots at the next stage of World Long Drive competition.
When the final ball had been hit, Triston Brown stood atop both leaderboards with an identical winning distance of 395 yards, while the final qualifying position belonged to Jake Turner at 381 yards — just one yard ahead of Kenny Held’s 380.
Brown Goes Wire-to-Wire
Brown set the standard from beginning to end. He won the Local Qualifier with a 395-yard drive, then returned for the Regional Qualifier and did it again — 395 yards.
And it wasn't one lucky swing. Brown's three longest drives during regional competition traveled 395, 394 and 392 yards, demonstrating remarkable consistency at elite long-drive distance.
Behind Brown, the battle was fierce
Brett Perry finished second at 393 yards, followed by Connor Sims at 392, Andrew Wright at 391, Jarret Myers at 389 and Jake Turner at 381.
Together, the six qualifiers averaged an extraordinary 390.2 yards, with the top three separated by just three yards.
Andrew Wright Finds 28 Yards When It Matters Most
One of the day's biggest performances belonged to Andrew Wright. Wright entered the Local Qualifier with a best drive of 363 yards and finished sixth. When the pressure increased at Regionals, so did his distance.
Wright unleashed a 391-yard drive — a 28-yard improvement— to finish fourth and secure his place at Worlds. It was the largest improvement among competitors who competed in both stages.
Longer — and More Accurate — Under Pressure
The numbers revealed another compelling story: as the competition intensified, players didn't simply swing harder. They became more accurate.
Regional competitors put 37% of drives in the 50-yard-wide grid, compared with 30% during the Local Qualifier. At the same time, the percentage of sets in which all five balls finished out of bounds fell from 21% locally to just 11% regionally.
Cameron Groom delivered one of the day's standout accuracy performances, finding the grid on 12 of 15 regional drives — an 80% success rate — while reaching 379 yards.
Power Across Generations
The competition also showcased the reach of long drive across generations. Competitors ranged from 19 to 61 years old, a 42-year span. Nineteen-year-old Blake Harsma reached 379 yards during regional competition, while 61-year-old Jeff Vergith recorded a 319-yard best. Worlds qualifiers included Wright at age 37 and Myers at age 40.
Technology Behind the Competition
Behind the spectacle was a detailed competition-data system designed to preserve the integrity of every result. AZ Long Drive used its proprietary PRISM™ system - its Player Registration Indexing and Scoring Mechanism - to capture every competition drive. Bay officials photographed each official result displayed by Dobson Ranch's InRange® system. Each submission was then individually reviewed by AZLD's AI-driven Validation Leaderboard, creating an audit record of all 655 competition drives and the final championship standings.
The result was a competition that combined speed, scale and measurable performance — from 655 individual drives to a Worlds qualifying battle ultimately decided by a single yard.

The 2026 AZ Long Drive Championship delivered a nail-biter finish in LongBall, as top seed Trehern McGill fell to #4 seed Jace Feely in the semifinals, setting up a title match for the ages between Feely and #2 seed Kieran Lovegrove. After splitting the first two sets, the final came down to Feely's last drive — his 382-yard effort fell just one yard short of Lovegrove's 383, handing Lovegrove the LongBall crown in the tightest finish possible.
Feely wasn't done, though. In the 3Ball bracket, he edged out "Mr. Consistency", Bryan Maibauer, in the semifinal, while Lovegrove powered past John Hayes to reach a rematch final. This time Feely got his revenge, sweeping the 3Ball final in straight sets to claim his own title and even the score. With one championship apiece, Lovegrove and Feely head into next season as the rivalry to watch.
